How to measure a custom tarpaulin cover
For a flat sheet, give the required finished length and width. For a fitted equipment cover, provide length, width and height plus projections, openings and the desired bottom clearance. Mark which side opens and whether the cover is fitted over stationary equipment or removed every day. A photograph with labelled dimensions is more useful than an unlabelled sketch. We confirm any seam, hem or fitting allowances as part of the fabrication details.

Measuring a custom size tarpaulin
Measure the item or area at its widest points and write down which dimensions are length, width and height. For a rectangular cover, decide whether the stated size describes only the top surface or includes the side drop. A 6 × 4 metre top with a one-metre drop on every side needs a different cutting plan from a flat 6 × 4 metre sheet.
Include space for overlap, hems and access only where needed. Do not add several unlabelled allowances to a measurement: provide the object dimensions and the desired finished cover dimensions separately. Mark corners, pipes, handles, hinges and other projections on your drawing. A fitted box cover also needs a clear opening and closure arrangement.
Choose PVC, PE or canvas according to handling and exposure. Very large sheets may be assembled from multiple panels. Agree seam locations and attachment details with our fabrication team before production, particularly where a seam could interfere with access or collect water.
